[UPDATE] Not our kitty. Got him to come out, and he ran for it. Not hurt as bad as it appeared, and not ours. Whew!

There is an injured black cat who has hidden itself in a juniper bush down the street, and the odds are about even that it is our Max. I peered into the bush to see it, but I really couldn’t get a good look. All black cats pretty much look the same.

I cut my hand trying to get to him and make a positive ID. There doesn’t seem to be any way to get him out short of cutting a hole in the neighbor’s bushes, which I doubt they would go for. He is a really skittish cat - he comes to no one.

I don’t know what to do.

Put nearby some piece of clothing – recently worn, obvs - belonging to the member of the family he trusts the most. I’d suggest socks or a t-shirt. Maybe also a little bowl some wet food. Wait patiently, not too close.

I was worried there the cat scratched you. Happened to my dad and he almost lost his had. Didn’t think about the scratches and in 30 hours the hand swelled up. But his retirement Seiko was saved thank god.
